Twenty years after “Production” – the album that took the by-then-tired filtered disco loops of French Touch into a new direction with its heavy, slow beats, percussive grooves and autotune-disguised vocals (heralding the fruitful collaboration with Madonna to come) – Mirwais finally announces the release of a third solo album.

Each track on this upcoming retro futurism-themed concept album will feature a date in its title, harking to a past musical genre that it then propels it into the future.

The scene is set by instrumental single “2016 - My Generation”, with its choir-laded intro leading into speedy roaring techno that explodes into Moroder-style psychedelic disco deflagrations and electric mind-warping guitar riffs designed.

The music video that was produced to accompany this new track became “My Generation”, an award winning short film produced in collaboration with Ludovic Houplain, of graphic design studio H5 and “Logorama” fame.

The long, backwards tracking shot frantically throws gimmicks of the contemporary world and pop culture against each other at breakneck speed: from the internet to sex, from politics to art, from sports to stock market indexes, from multinational drug companies to the domination of porn, from fake news to crypto-currencies...

A “pop-litical” manifesto brought to life by Mirwais’ latest track, which, by injecting even more speed and fury to the synthetized images, takes on a whole new dimension, precipitating us into an equally fascinating and terrifying virtual world, where brands have taken over our lives, becoming our new existential guides.

The explosive first single is about to receive the remix treatment by Chloé and Myd, while Mirwais’ third full-length, to be released by the end of the year, promises to reveal a whole new of the artist master’s output…
